BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: December 6, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: GinNeal McVay SUBJECT: Confirm Appointment of Information Technology Director DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request confirmation of the County Administrator’s recommendation to appoint Mr. Daniel Sambenedetto Jr. as Information Technology Director effective December 5, 2016. BACKGROUND: The recruitment process for the Information Technology Director included advertising both nationally and locally, resulting in 165 applicants. Upon review, a screening committee consisting of County Commissioner Nathan Boyles; John Hofstad, County Administrator; Stefan Vaughn, Chief Correctional Officer; and GinNeal McVay, Human Resources Director selected five candidates, including two internal candidates, for telephone interviews. Of those, the committee selected two candidates for onsite interviews held on November 15, 2016. The screening committee has recommended to the County Administrator, who concurs with their recommendation, the promotion of Mr. Daniel Sambenedetto Jr. as Information Technology Director. Mr. Sambenedetto has been employed with Okaloosa County since April 1993, most recently serving as the County's Interim Information Technology Director for the last 4 months. Prior to becoming employed with Okaloosa County, Mr. Sambenedetto served 4 years in the Air Force. Mr. Sambenedetto holds two Bachelors Degrees in Computer Science from California State University and Electronic Systems Technologies from Southern Illinois University. He is also a certified GIS Professional. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Confirm the County Administrator’s recommendation to promote Mr. Daniel Sambenedetto Jr. to the position of Information Technology Director effective December 5, 2016 at an annual salary of $105,019.20.
