No accounts, no tracking
Reading the public archive requires no sign-in. There are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers, no social tracking pixels, and nothing about your visit is sold or shared with advertisers.
What is measured
The archive keeps a coarse, anonymous count of daily visits so we know the site is reaching people. This uses a single first-party cookie (__Host-echoes_seen) that stores only today's date — no visitor identifier, no IP address, no user-agent. It is Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, and expires at the next midnight (U.S. Central). Known bots, prefetches, and visitors who send Do-Not-Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted.
What leaves the server
Only aggregate, acknowledged counters (for example, a page-view total for a day) are sent from the public edge to the archive's own backend, over a private connection. The content of your requests — what you searched or read — is not recorded against you or forwarded.
Downloads and external links
Preserved files are served directly by the archive. Where a record links to an original source elsewhere, following that link takes you to a third-party site with its own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Changes
If this practice changes, the change will be described here. Questions about data handling can be raised through Contact & corrections.
