CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Individual Training Account (ITA) Waiver Request PY 2016-17 Submitted to CareerSource Florida SUBJECT: CareerSource Okaloosa Walton is requesting the approval to submit a waiver request of the established Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of a minimum of 20% Individual Training Account (ITA) training requirement for Program Year 2016-2017. DETAILS: CareerSource Okaloosa Walton, Okaloosa County Commissioners and Walton County Commissioners approved the Waiver request of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act expenditure requirement for program year 2016-2017. The justification for the waiver request: a. Size/Funding for Area Okaloosa and Walton Counties) – Area 02 as designated by State as rural Region with a portion of Region dedicated as Rural Areas of Critical Economic Concern (RACEC) b. Area 2 has a consistently lower unemployment rate than the State as a whole c. High number of job openings/postings d. Lower numbers of jobseekers seeking Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act training needs. Training funds will be dedicated to work ready jobseekers who need only Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act core and intensive services (i.e. resume review, interview skills) The ITA Expenditure Waiver request for Program Year 2016- 2017 is a reduction of the current approved rate of 30% to 20%.
