BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: March 3, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Don Turner SUBJECT: Crestview Courthouse Project Design Update & Direction DEPARTMENT: Facility Maintenance BCC DISTRICT: 3 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Facility Maintenance staff requests Board of County Commissioners approval of the Design Concept for the renovation/addition to the Crestview Courthouse and to authorize the Design-Build team to continue plan development toward producing full construction documents. BACKGROUND: The Design-Build team of AJAX-Sam Marshall Architects has completed a project design concept for the renovation/expansion of the Crestview Courthouse. As part of the concept development the design team has met with various user groups to determine the needs the proposed facility is to address. Incorporating the needs with the existing facility led to a design scheme and cost to build that is significantly different from what has previously been presented to the Board of County Commissioners. In order to allow further development of the design concept, it is requested that the Board of County Commissioners approve the proposed scheme. If approved, greater detail will be developed for the construction documents as well as the estimated cost to complete. Because of the proposed increase in project scope there will be a corresponding increase in the fee schedule due to the Design-Build team. Should the design concept be approved, a revised fee schedule is provided for consideration. OPTIONS: Approve/disapprove the design concept for the renovation/expansion of the Crestview Courthouse and the revised fee schedule that reflects the increased scope of work as presented by the Design-Build team of AJAX-Sam Marshall Architects. This approval will authorize further development of the construction documents in accordance with the design concept and fee schedule.
