BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: March 17, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Special Event Permit - Easter Sunrise Service 2015 DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: Two STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Lutheran Churches of the Emerald Coast are requesting the use of John Beasley Park for Easter Sunrise Service. BACKGROUND: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county recreational areas, including parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks, beaches or recreational areas within Okaloosa County. A request has been received from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on behalf of The Lutheran Churches of the Emerald Coast area for use of John Beasley Park for its 41st annual Easter Sunrise Service on the beach. The service will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 6:00 a.m. Sponsors are requesting access at 4:30 a.m., worshipers should be clear by 7:00 a.m. and clean up complete by 7:30 a.m. The use of electrical power for a sound system will be provided at John Beasley Park. As the Luthern Churches are non-profit a waiver of any Special Event Permit fees is granted. OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the request for a Special Event Permit as submitted by Lutheran Churches of the Emerald Coast.
