BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 17, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request approval to auction assets DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Purchasing requests Board approval to auction fixed assets and other items that remain at the vacated Crestview Courthouse and the Purchasing asset management area through Global Auction Services (C14-2104-PUR). BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: All County staff have vacated the Crestview Courthouse in preparation of the demolition of the building. After the vacation of the building, some fixed assets and other items were left behind. County departments were allowed to utilize any items they felt were of use by their staff. The remaining fixed assets and other items have now been cataloged and prepared for auction. Upon approval by the Board, these items will remain in the Crestview Courthouse to be auctioned in place by Global Auction Services. This process allows the County to make these items available to the public for purchase through an on-line auction service. When the auction is complete, Global Auction Services will set up specific dates and times for the successful bidders to pick up their items. The proceeds from the auction of the items at the vacated Crestview Courthouse will be returned to the general fund to enhance funding for future projects and services. Global Auction Services has also prepared a list of items which are currently being housed at the Purchasing asset management area. These items will also be auctioned utilizing the on-line service. The proceeds from this auction will be returned to the appropriate County budgets to enhance funding for future projects and services. Staff requests that all auctioned items be authorized to be removed from the fixed asset list upon receiving proper documentation of the sale and receipt of the sale proceeds. Lists are attached of all items to be auctioned. OPTIONS: (1) Approve/Deny auction of fixed assets and other items that remain at the vacated Crestview Courthouse and the Purchasing asset management area through Global Auction Services. (2) Approve/Deny removal of all auctioned items from the fixed asset list upon receiving proper documentation and receipt of sale proceeds. RECOMMENDATION: (1) Staff recommends approval to auction fixed assets and other items that are no longer being used by County staff, or have reached the end of their useful life, through Global Auction Services.
