BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: November 3, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Special Event Permit - Jingle Bell Jog 2015 DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Zane Holscher with 7th Special Forces Association has requested permission to utilize county parking area at The Boardwalk for a staging area for a fundraising run event. BACKGROUND: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county recreational areas, including parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks, beaches or recreational areas within Okaloosa County. A request has been received from 7th Special Forces Association to utilize county parking area at the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island for a staging area for a fundraising run event. The event would take place Saturday, December 5th between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. Estimated attendance is 600 to 800 runners. This request has been reviewed by Public Works, Public Safety, the Sheriff's Office, the Okaloosa Island Fire Department and the leaseholder. The Fire Department requests all volunteers that are roadside to wear high visibility vests. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requires approval by the local government agency for their permit. OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the request for a Special Event Permit to utilize county parking lot area at The Boardwalk to stage a fund raising run event as submitted by 7th Forces Association contingent upon approval by the Florida Department of Transportation.
