STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Extend the contract with Brian Cox owner of Island Sands Beach
Service of NW FL, LLC to continue to provide beach chair and umbrella services for Newman
C. Brackin Park, John, Beasley Park, James Lee Park, and operate two small concession stands at
John Beasley Park for an additional three years.
BACKGROUND: On November 20, 2012 the Board entered a contract with Brian Cox owner
of Islands Beach Service of NW FL, LLC to operate two small concession stands at John
Beasley Park and provide beach chair and umbrella rentals at Newman C. Brackin Park (the
Boardwalk), John Beasley Park, and James Lee Park. The contract was for three years with one
three year renewal. The contract is for $30,000 a year which Mr. Cox has made each year in two
$15,000 payments. Mr. Cox and the Parks Division are in agreement for the contract to be
extended for an additional three years.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board approval to extend the contract C12-2003-PW for
three additional years with Brian Cox owner of Island Sands Beach Service of NW FL, LLC to
provide beach chair and umbrella services for Newman C. Brackin Park, John, Beasley Park,
James Lee Park, and operate two small concession stands at John Beasley Park.
