BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: October 6, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Reappointment of Parks Advisory Committee Members DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Consideration of citizen appointments for the Parks Advisory Committee. BACKGROUND: The Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance No. 13-07 regulating County Recreation Areas. The establishment of a Parks Advisory Committee was included within this ordinance, for the purpose of advising the BOCC and Parks Division to improve various aspects of the County recreational system. The members of the Parks Advisory Committee have been heavily involved in making parks and recreation related recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners, doing research and tapping their various contacts with the public to form these recommendations. The current terms of three members of the Parks Advisory Committee are due to expire in October. These three are: Preston Lee Bass (District 3, incorporated), Gloria Turner (At-large, District 2, incorporated) and Gerald Rush (At-large District 2). All three have served faithfully and contribute to the committee. All three are in agreement to serve an additional three-year term. OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove the reappointment of Preston Lee Bass, Gloria Turner and Gerald Rush to an additional three-year term on the Parks Advisory Committee. RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff requests Board approval of the reappointment of Preston Lee Bass, Gloria Turner and Gerald Rush to the Parks Advisory Committee to serve an additional three-year term representing their respective seats.
