STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is asking
Okaloosa County to accept an Off System Project Maintenance Agreement for a group of 16
intersection improvement projects in Okaloosa County.
BACKGROUND: FDOT is offering Okaloosa County an Off System Project Maintenance
Agreement to construct improvements at 16 intersection locations within Okaloosa County. The
locations of these improvements are listed in the table below and include various intersections
between local county roads and state roadways. The planned improvements have already been
designed and are currently scheduled for construction by FDOT as part of a "push-button" safety
improvements contract under Florida's Statewide Safety Intersection Implementation Plan; a
federally-funded program whose current focus is reducing crashes at stop-controlled
intersections. The projects will be administered by FDOT and the cost to construct and inspect
the improvements are being funded through the above mentioned program with no matching
funds required by the County.
