BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: August 18, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request approval to cancel RFP GM 56-15 Transit Security DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to cancel the Request for Proposals (RFP GM 56- 15) for Transit Security. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On May 19, 2015 the Board approved a RFP to procure services for the transit facility security which would meet Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recommendations and standards. The proposed project includes access control and intrusion detection systems. The RFP was published and two (2) pre-bid meetings were held to discuss the project with potential vendors. Vendors stated that the requirements outlined in the scope of work lacked pertinent details that would ensure the project would produce the desired results. Based on the comments from the vendors and recommendations from staff it is requested that the Board approve the cancellation of RFP GM 56-15 Transit Security. It is also requested that the Board approve to re-advertise the RFP when staff has developed a more comprehensive scope of work. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny request to cancel the RFP GM 56-15 for Transit Security and re- advertise when the scope of work has been revised. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Board approval to cancel the RFP GM 56-15 for Transit Security and re-advertise when the scope of work has been revised.
