STATEMENT OF ISSUE: [PUR] Request approval of the revised contract with Willo Products
Company, Incorporated for the replacement of the jail door control systems and authorize the
Chairman to sign the contract.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On January 20, 2015 the Board approved the contract with
Willo Products Company, Incorporated for the replacement of the jail door control systems and
authorized the Chairman to sign the contract. During further review of the contract it was
apparent a revision would provide more clarity regarding the amount of the contract. The
original bid included a base bid of $195,486 and an alternate bid of $188,194. It was the desire
of the Corrections Department to award the base bid price. Staff has revised the contract to
better reflect the contracted amount of $195,486. Staff requests the approval of the revised
contract and the authorization for the Chairman to sign the document.
This contract includes replacement of the door control system $106,137; replacement of
intercom system $49,680; and replacement of the closed circuit television system $39,669 for a
total bid of $195,486. The vendor estimates approximately 56 days to begin the work and 28
days to complete the work. Funding for the project was approved on August 5, 2014 in the
capital outlay budget.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the revised contract with Willo Products Company, Incorporated for
$195,486 for the replacement of the jail door control systems and authorize the Chairman to sign
the revised contract.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the revised contract with Willo
Products Company, Incorporated for $195,486 for the replacement of the jail door control
systems and authorize the Chairman to sign the revised contract.
