STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval for Purchasing Manager to sign Sponsorship
Form & Agreement for the 2015 Emerald Coast Classic basketball tournament.
BACKGROUND: In response to the TDC’s direction to partner with the Emerald Coast Classic
Basketball Tournament, staff requests to provide Media Room sponsorship in the amount of
$3,500. Staff will provide all branded marketing materials for the purpose of Media Room
branding. In exchange for this sponsorship, the Okaloosa County TDD will receive:
• Access to Media Room for TDD to place branding/marketing materials to desired extent
and Media Room Interview Backdrop with TDD logos
• (1) :30 second television spot on CBS Sports Network during a nationally televised game
• TDD branded banner in Arena during Event activities
• TDD logo on Sponsor page of Event website with year-round link to Sponsor website
• TDD logo in Event program
• (8) in-game mentions by Event Announcer (approximately two per session)
• (6) Premium VIP Event ticket packages (six Premium tickets for each session and six
VIP lanyards)
In addition, staff is working with event organizers to provide Thanksgiving weekend vacation
packages which will be marketed to the alumni of each participating college. A request for
vacation package rates has been sent to industry partners. The VIP event tickets will be used to
gain additional exposure (e.g. sweepstakes).
This marketing activity was not included in the FY16 Strategic Marketing Plan because the only
sponsorship opportunity available in 2014 (the streaming video) is not being done in 2015.
Global Sports Management has been retained to coordinate the marketing of this year’s event
and approached staff about participating. FY16 promotional reserve funds are available to fund
this.
Global Sports Management needs a commitment from the County prior to when a purchase order
could be issued at the start of the new fiscal year. Board approval is requested to authorize the
Purchasing Manager to sign the Sponsorship Form & Agreement. Global Sports Management
understands and accepts the document may be executed by the County subsequent to the
September 1 date noted on the document.
This sponsorship will be presented to the Tourist Development Council at its August 27, 2015
meeting.
