BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: April 5, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request approval to remove a laptop (#17159) from fixed asset ledger DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Purchasing requests Board approval to remove a laptop from the fixed asset list due to theft. (County Asset #17159, Serial #4RG23N1) BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On December 24, 2015, a County staff member discovered their personal vehicle had been burglarized. A laptop computer with fixed asset number 17159 was stolen from the vehicle. Policy states that known or suspected theft of County-owned property will be reported to the Purchasing Division and investigated by the appropriate law enforcement agency. After police have completed their investigation the item may be removed from the fixed asset ledger based on Board approval. An incident report was completed by the Crestview Police Department and the subsequent investigation has not lead to the return of the laptop. Staff requests approval to remove the laptop, asset number 17159, from the fixed asset ledger. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny removal of a laptop with fixed asset #17159 from the fixed asset ledger due to the theft of the item and subsequent police report. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the removal of a laptop, with fixed asset #17159, from the fixed asset ledger due to the theft of the item and subsequent police report.
