BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 17, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request approval to begin contract negotiations with Warren Averett DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to negotiate a contract with Warren Averett for professional auditing services. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: A Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued to engage a firm to perform professional auditing services. The proposals were due on April 25, 2016 and four (4) firms responded. On May 6, 2016 the review committee convened to discuss and rank the respondents. Each firm’s submittal was reviewed by the committee members and a ranking was determined. Warren Averett was determined to be the top ranked firm and the committee voted unanimously to request authorization for staff to negotiate a contract. Staff requests Board authorization to negotiate a contract with Warren Averett. The intent of the contract is to engage a firm of certified public accountants to audit three (3) years of financial statements commencing with the fiscal year ending September 30, 2016 and including fiscal year ending September 30, 2017, and ending with the fiscal year ending September 30, 2018. The proposed contract will also include an option to renew for three (3) one-year terms beyond the initial three (3) years. The final contract will be brought before the Board for approval. In addition, the review committee has expressed that they have no further business and they stand adjourned. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny for staff to begin contract negotiations with Warren Averett for professional auditing services.
