BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: June 21, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Six Month Extension of Waste Management Contract DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Public Works Staff is requesting another six month extension (attached) of the County’s Collection Franchise Agreement # C00-0409-PW and Transfer Station Agreement # C00-0408-PW. BACKGROUND: The extensions, through March 31, 2017, are necessary to allow time to bring the revised bid specifications back to the Board for final approval as well as advertise, review, award the bid, and transition (if needed). Both documents have received the appropriate staff review (attached). Note also that the Franchisee has agreed in the Collection Agreement extension to establish a weekly route schedule for the collection of bulk waste throughout the Franchised areas of unincorporated Okaloosa County. OPTIONS: N/A RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chairman to execute both extensions of the aforementioned contracts through the period March 31, 2017. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
