BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: June 21, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: GinNeal McVay SUBJECT: Screening Committee for Information Technology Director DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Appoint a screening committee to review employment applications for the Information Technology Director position. BACKGROUND: The current Information Technology Director is scheduled to retire effective July 31, 2016. The Human Resources Policy VII, C states, in part, “A screening committee comprised of a Commissioner, the County Administrator or designee, and others as determined and approved by the Board, will review all qualified employment applications for vacant department director positions.” OPTIONS: The Board could consider appointment of the committee to include: County Commissioner Nathan Boyles; John Hofstad, County Administrator; GinNeal McVay, Human Resources Director; Stefan Vaughn, Chief Correctional Officer; Vy Nguyen, Information Technology Assistant Professor at Northwest Florida State College; and/or others as desired. RECOMMENDATIONS: Appoint a screening committee of: County Commissioner Nathan Boyles; John Hofstad, County Administrator; GinNeal McVay, Human Resources Director; Stefan Vaughn, Chief Correctional Officer; Vy Nguyen, Information Technology Assistant Professor at Northwest Florida State College to review employment applications for the Information Technology Director position.
