Board of County Commissioners State of Florida June 2, 2015 Pam Miner, Project Manager ATKINS 1141 Jackson Avenue Chipley, FL 32428 RE: FDOT Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) Extension Request Project Description: Shalimar Gateway Landscaping FPID: 416533-8-58-23 Dear Ms. Miner: On behalf of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce (see attached letter), Okaloosa County is requesting an additional one year extension of the above referenced Joint Participation Agreement (JPA). The JPA between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the County was originally executed on June 10, 2013 with an end date of May 31, 2014. As you are aware, the project lies with the jurisdiction of Eglin Air Force Base which necessitated that an easement be obtained covering the limits of proposed construction. This process required identifying the easement boundary, survey, utility coordination and environmental review. Okaloosa County is responsible for administering the project, and over the past year staff has worked directly with Eglin in an effort to keep the project moving forward. The easement will be finalized and executed by Eglin within the coming weeks, but additional time is being requested in order to construct the project. If approved, the new Agreement end date would be June 30, 2016. Okaloosa County respectfully requests this extension and will work with all vested parties to bring the project to a successful completion.
