Tedesco, Chairperson Linda Sumblin, Executive Director May 18, 2015 Mr. John Hofstad, County Administrator Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners 1804 Lewis Turner Blvd, Suite 400 Ft Walton Beach FL 32547 Dear Mr. Hofstad: CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Board of Directors requests approval from the Okaloosa County Commissioners for the implementation of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Federal legislation adopted on July 22, 2014 that is applicable to CareerSource Okaloosa Walton. Under the WIOA legislation (Pub. L. 113-128), the Governor must designate the local workforce development Boards. The WIOA provides and allows the continuation the local workforce development areas that were designated pursuant to the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. This action will allow the state to smoothly transition into the new law and provide sufficient time over the next two years to begin to meet the requirements of the new law. CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Board of Directors requests approval of the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners to submit the continuation of the established local workforce development area (Region 02 serving Okaloosa and Walton Counties) and continuation of Region 02 established CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Board of Directors membership designation to the Governor by the established date of June 15, 2015. The Interlocal Agreement between the Okaloosa and Walton County Boards of County Commissioners and CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Board of Directors will remain as executed on September 9, 2014 [ look forward to the time allowed to CareerSource Okaloosa Walton at the June 2, 2015 Okaloosa County Commissioners Board meeting to further explain the Governor’s request for Region 02 designation and Board of Directors membership.
