STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to extend the existing facility lease, for a portion
of, the old Okaloosa Island Fire Station located at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton Beach, with
Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, Inc. for one additional year. This is the last of the two (2), one
(1) year extensions.
BACKGROUND: On July 1st, 2014 the Board entered a lease with the Emerald Coast Wildlife
Refuge, Inc. (ECWR) for a portion of the facility located at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton
Beach, known as the old Okaloosa Island Fire Station building. The term of the lease was for one
(1) year with two (2) one (1) year extensions. This is the last of the one (1) year extensions.
ECWR’s fee for the lease is $1.00 per year. ECWR has requested the lease be extended for the
last one (1) year extension.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove to extend the facility lease for a portion of the old Okaloosa
Island Fire Station facility located at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton Beach with Emerald
Coast Wildlife Refuge, Inc. for a one-year extension for a fee of $1.00 per year.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board approval to extend the facility lease for a portion of
the old Okaloosa Island Fire Station facility located at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton Beach
with Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, Inc. for a one-year extension for a fee of $1.00 a year. This
is the last of the one (1) year extensions for this contract. Allow the Chairman to execute the
lease extension.
