BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: January 6, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request Approval of Fire Suppression Contract (FM 04-15) DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of Fire Suppression Contract and authorization for Chairman to sign the contract. (FM 04-15) BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: The current contract for fire suppression was scheduled for renewal on September 30, 2014. Legal review determined the contract should not be renewed but be re-bid. The vendor agreed to a modified renewal period until January 31, 2014 to allow staff the time to complete the bid process. Bids were due on November 12, 2014 and two (2) bids were received. B & C Fire Safety submitted the lowest most responsive bid. The value of the contract will exceed $40,000 per year. (Itemization of the bid items prevent it from being bid as a total overall amount.) The contract will provide fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire line and backflow, fire pumps, fire extinguisher, and other fire suppression related infrastructure inspections and maintenance. Emergency response for system malfunctions and repairs is also included. All County and Airport facilities are covered under the contract. The contract term is for three (3) years from date of execution and may be renewed for two (2) additional one (1) year periods if mutually agreed upon by both parties. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the contract with B&C Fire Safety for fire suppression related services and authorize the Chairman to sign the contract. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the contract with B&C Fire Safety for fire suppression related services and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract.
