BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: September 15, 2015
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Jeff Littrell
SUBJECT: Amendment to Joe's Upholstery Contract
DEPARTMENT: Water and Sewer
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approval to
amend the existing Lease Agreement between Okaloosa County Water and Sewer (OCWS) and
Joe’s Upholstery at 1310 Oddfellow Road - Unit F to correct a scriveners error that resulted in an
incorrectly stated rental amount. This unit is located in a building owned by OCWS.
BACKGROUND: Joe McKenzie has rented one of the Oddfellow units from the Water &
Sewer Department for many years. During the course of the lease renewal process for 2015-16,
it was discovered that a scriveners error resulted in an incorrect rental fee amount of $525.00 per
month in the Joe's Upholstery 2014-15 Contract. Mr. McKenzie has been paying his correct
monthly rental of $400.00 per month - there is no money amount to refund. A copy of the
contract is attached.
OPTIONS: Approve or deny the Lease Amendment for Joseph E. McKenzie of Joe's
Upholstery.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends approval by the BCC to authorize the Chairman
to execute the lease amendment with Joseph E. McKenzie of Joe's Upholstery, Unit 1310F
Oddfellow Road, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, changing the monthly rate from $525.00 to the
correct amount of $400.00.
