STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Purchasing requests Board approval to award the bid to Schindler
Elevator for elevator maintenance at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport. (RFB AP 06-16)
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On March 9, 2016 bids were due for elevator and escalator
maintenance at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and one bid was received. Staff has
reviewed the bid and determined that Schindler Elevator was fully responsive to all required
specifications. The bid was provided in annual amounts for the next five years: Year 1 -
$14,268.00, Year 2 - $14,696.00, Year 3 - $15,136.00, Year 4 - $15,591.00 and Year 5 -
$16,058.00. The current contract has been in place for a number of years and the re-bid has
resulted in a cost savings. Staff requests approval to award the bid for the elevator and escalator
maintenance at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport to Schindler Elevator. The proposed
contract will be brought before the Board for approval.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny award of the bid to Schindler Elevator for elevator and escalator
maintenance at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport for an average annual cost of $15,149.80.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval to award the bid to Schindler Elevator for
elevator and escalator maintenance at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport for an average
