BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: February 18, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Zan Fedorak
SUBJECT: Award and Sign Contracts for Network Cabling and Repair
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Award and request authorization for the Chairman to sign contracts
with Datech, Glaze Communication, GSC Communications, Network Cabling Service, Inc.,
Universal Cabling System, Inc. For network cabling and repair.
BACKGROUND: A bid opening on December 4, 2013 resulted in five (5) bids being received
for network cabling and repair. The Information Systems Department has recommended that we
enter into contract with all five companies to decrease the likelihood of a delayed response time.
This recommendation is due to the limited availability of vendors on short notice which has the
possibility to create lengthened down times. All necessary documentation has been received and
has been made a part of this agenda item. Purchasing is requesting award of the contracts and
authorization of the Chairman to sign.
OPTIONS: Approve or Reject entering into contract with the five (5) responding bidders for
network cabling and authorization for the Chairman to sign.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the contracts with Datech, Glaze
Communication, GSC Communications, Network Cabling Service, Inc., Universal Cabling
System, Inc. And also requests approval for the Chairman to sign the contracts.
