STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Public Works is working as the agent for the Airports Department
in the development of Foy Shaw Parkway at the Bob Sikes Airport in Crestview. Foy Shaw
Parkway will be a new roadway that will provide a direct connection from US 90 to the
industrial airport. In order to develop the roadway the first required step is to perform an
environmental analysis to determine the best roadway alignment. HDR, Inc has performed the
necessary documentation and presenting the findings for the Board of County Commissioners'
consideration and approval.
BACKGROUND: Bob Sikes Airport serves as an industrial hub in the Crestview area. In order
to improve access to the airport from the State highway system a direct connection is required.
Staff has engaged the services of HDR, Inc to perform the necessary environmental documents
in order to develop the best alignment for the proposed roadway.
Data gathering, report development and agency review has been completed and the
environmental documents are now ready for approval by the County. HDR, Inc will present the
findings of the report for the Board's consideration and approval. If approved, HDR will
immediately begin the design phase of the project.
This presentation to the Board of County Commissioners represents the final required public
presentation for the environmental documents. Notice (sample included) has been provided to
all appropriate entities.
OPTIONS: Accept/reject the findings within the environmental documents related to Foy Shaw
Parkway.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Accept the recommended alignment for Foy Shaw Parkway and
authorize the Public Works Director to sign as the approving representative.
