donation of state and federally funded
instructional materials and furnishings
to Fllorida Scholars Academy.
Public Content
The Florida Scholars Academy (Academy) was established by the 2023 Florida Legislature to create a single unified education system
throughout the Department’s residential commitment programs. The Academy became fully operational and formally assumed the
responsibility of providing in-person instruction to students in the Department’s care and custody. The Department is working diligently to
ensure a smooth and efficient transition as the Academy is launched. Toward that end, the Department has been collaborating with the
Florida Department of Education (FDOE) to ensure instructional materials and furnishings (e.g., furniture [desks, tables, and chairs],
textbooks, portable classrooms, white boards, smart boards, etc.) purchased with state and federal funds for the education of children
assigned to juvenile residential programs are transferred to the Academy. This transfer will ensure that these investments continue to be
used to meet the educational needs of children assigned to juvenile residential programs. The transfer of the attached items will be
effective following the approval of the Okaloosa County School Board.
