STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to award the bid to United Rentals for one (1)
4X4 Articulating Boom (with Jib) All-Terrain Man-lift for a total cost of $125,895.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: Pubic Works - Parks requested to purchase one (1) 4x4
articulating boom (with jib) all-terrain man-lift. Bids were due on February 4, 2015 and 7
(seven) bids were received. Fleet staff and Parks staff have reviewed the bids and determined
that United Rentals was the lowest most responsive bidder at a price of $125,895.00. Staff
requests approval to award the bid to United Rentals for the 4x4 articulating boom (with jib) all-
terrain man-lift. A requisition will be processed when/if the Board approves the award of the bid.
This purchase was approved in the budget process and funding is available; unincorporated parks
$81,250, County parks $11,250, Tourist District parks $32,500 - total $125,000. The additional
$895 will come from within the same accounts which have funds remaining from purchases that
came in below the budgeted amount.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny award of the bid to United Rentals for one (1) 4x4 articulating boom
(with jib) all-terrain man-lift for a bid price of $125,895.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends award of the bid to United Rentals for one (1) 4x4
articulating boom (with jib) all-terrain man-lift for a bid price of $125,895.00.
