STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Purchasing seeks authorization from the Board to auction surplus
items.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: The County has surplus items that are ready for disposal.
(Lists attached.) Purchasing is seeking authorization from the Board to auction these items
through our contracted auctioneer Global Enterprises (C14-2104-PUR). Auctioning the surplus
items is a new process, and it continues to be the most profitable way for the County to dispose
of property, equipment and miscellaneous items. In addition, it was discovered that a previously
approved list had incorrect headings. That list is also included in this agenda item with the
corrected headings just for clarification of the records. The items included in the list has not
changed, only the referenced headings.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove auction of surplus items through Global Enterprises.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving auction of surplus items through Global
Enterprises.
