BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 6, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Public Event Permit - Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Kristen Wyatt, representing Irreverent Warriors is requesting a Public Event Permit to raise funds for suicide prevention among veterans. BACKGROUND: The event will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The course will begin at Al's Beach Club, proceed down the beach, crossing over to Santa Rosa Blvd and then proceeding along various roads in Fort Walton Beach and Cinco Bayou. A race route is attached. This request has been coordinated with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office who will be providing assistance with traffic during the event. Both the City of Fort Walton Beach and the Town of Cinco Bayou have approved the request as well as Public Safety, the Okaloosa Island Fire Department and the private land owners along the beach route. Approximately 100 to 150 people are expected to participate in the event. OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove the request for a Public Event Permit for the Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike event as submitted by Kristen Wyatt pending receipt of the original Hold Harmless Agreement and approval from the Holiday Inn. RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board approval for a Public Event Permit for the Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike event as submitted by Kristen Wyatt pending receipt of the original Hold Harmless Agreement and approval from the Holiday Inn.
