TOURIST DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM
DATE: May 29, 2014
TO: Tourist Development Council
FROM: Ed Schroeder, Tourist Development Department Director
Charlotte Dunworth, Finance, Administration, & Compliance Manager
SUBJECT: FY 2014-15 Proposed Budget
Attachment: VII.b. FY15 Proposed Budget (2881 : FY 2014-15 Budget Proposal to County Administrator)
Background
A budget is a planning tool that identifies expenses by account classification. Some dollar amounts
reflect known contractual values, while other dollar amounts are estimates. Not all anticipated amounts
may be necessarily incurred, and some expenses may be incurred that are not currently identified
because a need or opportunity arises during the year that was unanticipated.
Discussion
The purpose of the May 8 budget meeting was to provide information to the TDC on the various entities
receiving tourist development tax dollars and how those dollars are spent, as well as to allow the TDC to
reach consensus on desired priorities and funding levels for FY 2014-15. For a variety of reasons, not
all budgetary requests recommended by the TDC have been included in the proposed FY15 budget.
