BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: April 5, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: GinNeal McVay SUBJECT: Deputy Airports Director Salary Rate DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request an annual salary of $86,985.60 for the Deputy Airports Director in the Airports Department. BACKGROUND: We have recruited internally for a Deputy Airports Director. The candidate selected, Mr. Michael Stenson, has an MBA from Touro University and a Bachelor's Degree in Resources Management from Troy University. Further, he is a certified Airport Security Coordinator by the American Association of Airport Executives. Mr. Stenson has over 10 years of experience in general aviation and FAA Part 139 certificated airports. County Human Resources Policy provides authority to the County Administrator to authorize promotional increases up to the 75th percentile of the pay range. Because of the need to fill this position with a well-qualified candidate, and in consideration of the current market conditions, the department has requested to promote at 4.4% below the maximum salary of the grade. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve promotional salary request of $86,985.60 annually for Mr. Michael Stenson as the Deputy Airports Director.
