STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board of County Commissioners is requested to approve the
request to advertise and solicit proposals for RFP AP 26-15, Security & Access Control Systems
Inspection & Maintenance at VPS Airport.
BACKGROUND: This is a Security Sensitive Item (SSI) as defined by the Department of
Homeland Security.
The previously installed Security & Access Control Systems software at VPS had reached its
design life-cycle and capacity and was deemed obsolete. That system is currently being replaced
under a separate Board approved and awarded contract and will be under warranty when
completed. The Department of Airports has identified the need to have a contract in place for the
inspection and maintenance of the security hardware and peripheral surveillance enabling
equipment. Upon Board concurrence, a recommendation and contract will be brought back to the
Board for review and approval following the Purchasing Policies and the RFP process.
OPTIONS: Approve, Reject or Table
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board approve the request to advertise
RFP AP 26-15 and solicit proposals for the Security & Access Control System Inspection &
Maintenance at VPS Airport.
