BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: March 1, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Kay Godwin SUBJECT: Payments to Non-Profits DEPARTMENT: County Administrator BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests the Board of County Commissioners authorize payments to the non-profit organizations listed below after their applications with supporting documentation have been received and reviewed by staff. BACKGROUND: On March 17, 2015 the Board approved a policy that included, in part, a requirement that the Board approve the applications of all non-profit organizations that request funding. Staff failed to follow this policy during the budget process by failing to request an application and other related documentation. As the entities listed below have received County funding for a number of years, and in order for them to receive the budgeted disbursements without further delay, staff is requesting authorization from the Board to approve the disbursements pending staff’s receipt and satisfactory review of the applications and associated documents.  Safe Connections (formerly Judge Ben Gordon Visit Center)  Baker Block Museum  Carver Hill Museum  Destin Fishing Museum - application attached  Heritage Museum - application attached  Shelter House - application attached  Okaloosa County Head Start  Elder Services  Early Learning Coalition (formerly Okaloosa-Walton Child Care Services)  90 Works (formerly Child Protection Team) - application attached OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Request approval for Finance to issue payments to the listed non- profit organizations after their applications with supporting documentation have been received and deemed by staff to be in compliance with the non-profit policy.
