STATEMENT OF ISSUE: [PUR] Seeking Board approval of quotes and purchase replacement
50 ton drop low-boy trailer.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On May 9, 2014 a low-boy trailer was totaled in an accident.
Risk Management has provided the settlement amount of $59,173.60. The Fleet Department has
requested the purchase of one new 50 ton drop low-boy trailer to replace the one destroyed in the
accident. Specifications were clearly defined so the Purchasing staff solicited quotes in lieu of
bids to expedite replacement of the trailer. A total of four quotes were obtained with Pitts
Trailers providing the lowest quote at $58,795.01. Purchasing staff requests Board approval of
the quotes in lieu of bids and awarding the quote to Pitts Trailers for $58,795.01.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny quotes in lieu of bids to purchase replacement 50 ton drop low-boy
trailer from Pitts Trailers for $58,795.01.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving quotes in lieu of bids to purchase
replacement 50 ton drop low-boy trailer from Pitts Trailers for $58,795.01.
