Not later than eight hours and before the formation of rust, the cleaned surfaces (SSPC-SP10) shall be primed with the specified primer applied at a rate to achieve a 2.5 - 3.5 mils (min.) dry film thickness. The primer coat shall be inspected and approved by the ENGINEER prior to proceeding with the remaining coats. After approval of the prime coat a finish coat shall be applied at a rate to achieve 30.0 - 40.0 mils DFT. Roof beams, sharp edges and other difficult to coat areas shall receive 40.0 — 50.0 mils DFT.. The total dry film thickness for the two (2) coat system shall be a minimum of 32.5 mils. All roof beams, sharp edges and other difficult to coat areas shall have a minimum of 42.5 mils DFT. Paint shall be applied strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. 6. Re-coat Cycle a. The CONTRACTOR shall review the manufacturer's published product data for maximum re-coat times for the interior coating system selected for use. b. Ifthe maximum re-coat window is exceeded prior to application of the Repair & Paint 009870 - 23 Countryview & Bluewater Tanks (2014) Job No. 41-459 succeeding coat, then the CONTRACTOR shall prepare the interior surfaces in accordance with the manufacturer's published product data prior to the application of the next coat. The cost of this additional surface preparation shall be borne by the CONTRACTOR with no additional cost to the OWNER. The Contract Time shall not be increased as a result of this additional surface preparation. Curing Each coat shall be properly cured before the application of any subsequent coats. The interior wet area coating shall be completely cured and the tank shall not be filled with water until approved by the ENGINEER and OWNER. The exterior dry coating on the opposite side of water bearing surfaces shall be completely cured and the tank shall not be filled with water until approved by the ENGINEER and OWNER. Solvent rub tests, pencil hardness tests, or other industry recognized testing procedures shall be used as recommended by the manufacturer. The CONTRACTOR shall monitor the torus bottom plate temperature during the interior coating curing to verify that minimum steel temperature requirements are satisfied. Ventilation Forced ventilation shall be supplied to the interior of the tank for a continuous period of at least 48 hours after the final coat has been applied. Adequate ventilation of the tank bottom and other low lying areas of the tank shall be provided by the CONTRACTOR as required for solvent release and coating cure. This ventilation shall, at a minimum, be in accordance with AWWA D102-06. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish, install and operate the equipment that is necessary to provide forced ventilation to aid curing. If supplementary heating or dehumidification is required to effect curing, the CONTRACTOR shall furnish, install, and operate the equipment to perform the supplementary heating or dehumidification required at no additional cost. 9. Testing Repair & Paint Countryview & Bluewater Tanks (2014) All interior wet coatings, including those above the high water level, shall be checked with a wet sponge low voltage holiday detector.
