SUBJECT: Approval of Peter Mayer Task Order 130

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval for task order 130 for a television show with
travel writer Colleen Kelly designed to target leisure family travelers.
BACKGROUND: The following promotional activities will be received for $30,000: a 30-
minute show exclusive to the Emerald Coast, episode featured on home page for a month, a
dedicated Emerald Coast, FL destination page with opportunity for updates, and expansive,
integrated programming during location shoot and full month of original broadcast.
The Board approved the Strategic Marketing Plan on November 5, 2013, which included a line
item for “Co-Op Opportunities” in the amount of $285,000. The co-op program is being
reevaluated due to low partner participation. Additional opportunities are being designed for
partner review, and some of the funding is being reallocated to other marketing plan components
to make a larger promotional impact for our area. A revised Strategic Marketing Plan will be
presented to the TDC on February 27, with presentation to the Board anticipated on March 4.
Task order 130 reflects the reallocation of funding from co-ops to leisure for this unanticipated
opportunity. Given the time-sensitive nature of this opportunity, staff respectfully requests
Board approval for this task order, which will be included in the revised Strategic Marketing
Plan.
