BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: December 6, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: GinNeal McVay SUBJECT: Request Approval to Execute an MOU with Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for driving records. BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners conducts driver license checks on all prospective employees during the background check process as well as all current employees on an annual basis. These checks are completed to ensure new hires and current employees meet the County's driving standards as outlined in the Human Resources Policy Manual. Currently the County pays a fee for each driving record requested through a third party vendor. These fees range from $8.00 to $16.00 per record. The executed MOU will allow the County to receive all Florida driving records at no cost. As a note of clarification, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles cannot sign the MOU until we have obtained all of the required signatures (as noted in the attached e- mail). We will ensure that all signatures are obtained prior to commencing services with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Authorize the Chairman to sign and execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to obtain driving records for current and prospective employees.
