Public Content The Okaloosa County School District is required to levy a certain millage each year in order to receive funds through the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP). This millage rate is set by the State of Florida. Over the past 10 years, the Required Local Effort has decreased. Please see the attached document which contains a history of all millage rates approved since fiscal year 1991-1992. Please note that even though the millage rate is decreasing, property taxes are expected to increase due to the increase in property value; therefore, the School District must advertise this as an increase to property taxes.
