8. Discussion Agenda
Subject : 8.1 Restoring the AP and
AICE Teacher Resources Fund
to the original set-aside
percentages approved by the
Board, presented by Cindy
Frakes
Meeting : Jun 9, 2014 - Regular Meeting
Type : Action
Budget Source : FTE Funds generated from
qualifying AP and AICE Exams
Recommended Action : Motion to restore the AP and
AICE Teacher Resources Fund
to the original set-aside
percentages approved by the
Board:
AP @ 15% and AICE @ 10%.
Public Content
The Board originally designated 15% of FTE funds generated from qualifying AP exams and 10% of FTE
funds generated from qualifying AICE exams to a Teaching Resources Fund to be used to provide
supplemental books, supplies, and equipment for AP and AICE courses and for those courses which are
considered preparatory for AP and AICE courses. An AP/AICE Resource Committee was to be established
at each school to decide how these funds would be spent. These funds were reduced to 7.5% for AP
and 5% for AICE in 2011 due to economic reasons. It is now recommended that these funds be restored
to the original set-aside percentages.

Financial Officer, and
recommended by the
Superintendent for approval.
Meeting : Jun 9, 2014 - Regular Meeting
Type : Action
Recommended Action : Motion to approve the
Centralized Based Budgeting
Model.
Public Content
District Staff presented and discussed with the School Board, at the Special Budget Workshop on May
29th, the Superintendent's recommendation to adopt a "Centralized Based Budgeting Model". The
adoption of a Centralized Based Budgeting Model would provide a minimum level standard of service
for schools. It will provide greater cost efficiencies as a result of the ability to consolidate services and
make bulk purchases. Also, it will free up time spent on fiscal responsibilities which will provide School
Principals additional time to focus on curriculum needs, personnel observations and evaluations and
function as a full-time instructional leader.
