BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: February 3, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request Approval of Contract with Northwest Florida Land Clearing for Jail Parking Lot DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: [PUR] Request approval of the contract with Northwest Florida Land Clearing for the jail parking lot repairs and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract (PW 12-15). BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: The Public Works Department assisted Corrections with the bid process to acquire a contractor to repair damage to the jail parking lot. The damage was caused by heavy rains during a storm event in April 2014. On January 20, 2015 the Board approved award of a contract to Northwest Florida Land Clearing for the jail parking lot repairs at bid price of $68,119.15. (The original bid was $68,122 but a mathematical error was found during review. The corrected bid price is $68,119.15 and has been acknowledged/documented by the contractor.) Staff requests approval of the contract and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract. The funding for this repair is being tracked through the natural disasters fund as designated by the Clerk. This project has been submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is eligible for reimbursement. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the contract with Northwest Florida Land Clearing, Inc. for repairs to the jail parking lot for a bid total of $68,119.15 and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the contract with Northwest Florida Land Clearing, Inc. for repairs to the jail parking lot for a bid total of $68,119.15 and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract.
