1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order by Mr. Hayes at 5:00 p.m.
2. Invocation & Pledge of Allegiance
The invocation was led by Ms. Helt and the pledge by Mr. Rytman.
3. Discussion, Animal Control Changes
Mr. Hayes stated that the workshop today is for the Animal Control Ordinance and for the
Council to address the changes.
Ms. Roy stated that the four areas of main concern seems to be chickens, number of animals,
tethering and to some extent pot bellied pigs. Those four items were brought up most often in
workshops. She would like to cover all four of those items and to see if Council can reach a
consensus of where they would like to move from here.
Ms. Roy then started with the issue of the chickens. She pointed on page six in Section 10-10
titled Livestock under “b” number two that “No person shall slaughter any chickens.” The
purpose of that line was that people could not raise chickens for slaughter. Her proposal for
changing that is to take out the line and replace it with “No person shall raise chickens expressly
for slaughter.” The other items in that section should remain the same.
Mr. Blocker inquired about the number of chickens that can be kept because the number is four
but he was asked if it was at one time seven or if it could be changed to seven.
Ms. Roy stated that the only seven pertains to the number of domesticated animals that one can
own. Nobody has inquired about the number of chickens one can own.
