BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: June 21, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jeff Littrell SUBJECT: Gator Boring & Trenching - Contract Renewal DEPARTMENT: Water and Sewer BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Okaloosa County Water & Sewer (OCWS) staff requests Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approval to authorize the Chairman to execute a contract renewal with Gator Boring & Trenching, Inc. for subsurface utility bores. BACKGROUND: Via the competitive bid process, Contract C14-2092-WS was entered into with Gator Boring & Trenching, Inc. (Gator) in 2013. The bid and resulting contract was for subsurface utility bores necessary on projects. As needs arise, Task Orders are procured on this contract through the normal process outlined in the County Purchasing Manual. The current contract is effective from 10/1/2013 to 9/30/2016, and provides for up to three (3) 1-year renewals. Gator has successfully completed major bores on projects, such as: Poquito Bayou Crossings, Little Trout Creek (Hwy 20), Shoal River Drive, Gap Creek, and Eglin Main Base Wastewater. Under this contract, Gator has also completed numerous directional bores for the County IS Department. Gator has provided excellent service, and staff is now requesting the first of the renewals, which would make the renewal period from 10/1/2016 to 9/30/2017. The renewal/amendment is attached for your consideration, along with the County Contract Review Coordination Sheet, updated Certificate of Insurance, and a copy of the current contract. OPTIONS: Approve or deny. RECOMMENDATIONS: OCWS requests BCC approval to authorize the Chairman to execute the first of three available 1-year renewals on the Gator Boring & Trenching, Inc. contract for subsurface utility bores.
