STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board of County Commissioners is requested to approve
Supplemental Joint Participation Agreement (SJPA) No. 3 from the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT).
BACKGROUND: The SJPA provides funding for security surveillance equipment and
protection at Okaloosa County's three airports to include the recently completed automation of
the previously TSA manned Exit Lane Infrastructure at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport.
SJPA 3 provides for the design and construction of interior and perimeter wildlife and security
fencing and wildlife control measures at Bob Sikes and Destin Executive Airports and includes
the Design, Construction and Installation of a Noise Wall and Noise Control Measures at Destin
Executive Airport. The funding for these projects with a total estimated cost of $1,301,801
includes $1,041,441 (80%) funding participation through this JPA from FDOT.
OPTIONS: Approve, Disapprove or Table.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners approve the
SJPA and authorize the Chairman to sign the grant by approving the attached signature
resolution.
