BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: January 5, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request approval of amendment one to the World Fiber Contract DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of amendment one to the World Fiber Contract. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On December 1, 2015 the Board approved a contract with World Fiber Technologies, Incorporated for telecommunications maintenance for the fiber optic network. Staff is requesting to amend the contract to remove the performance bond requirement. The contract is based on unit prices and work is assigned by task orders. Therefore the total value of the contract is a variable amount. Also, the contract was awarded to more than one vendor. The assigned work will vary between vendors which will make it impossible to assign a fair amount to the performance bond. Staff requests approval of amendment one (1) to the World Fiber Contract (C16-2354-IT) to remove the performance bond requirement from the contract and authorization for the Chairman to sign the document. In addition, staff requests authorization to submit payment for any work which was performed since the approval of the contract and subsequent task orders. OPTIONS: (1) Approve/Deny amendment one (1) of the World Fiber Contract and authorize the Chairman to sign the document. (2) Approve/Deny payment for any work which was performed since the approval of the contract and subsequent task orders. RECOMMENDATION: (1) Staff recommends approval of amendment one (1) of the World Fiber Contract and authorize the Chairman to sign the document.
