STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board is requested to extend the task order duration beyond the
contract expiration date for several task orders under Contract C10-1838-IS with World Fiber
Technologies, Inc.
BACKGROUND: The Fiber Optic Network Maintenance and Repair Contract C10-1838-IS
with World Fiber Technologies, Inc. will expire on March 17, 2015. This contract has several
task orders in place with ongoing work which will not be complete before the contract expires,
namely Task Orders #17, #18 and #19. It is recommended that the contract be amended and
extended to reflect that the assigned task orders will be completed as written and paid at the rates
established under the original contract for which the task orders were written, with an anticipated
completion date of July 31, 2015. This contract will terminate upon the completion of all work
associated with these task orders or September 1, 2015, whichever is later.
A bid package has been prepared by Purchasing for one or more contractors to provide
telecommunications maintenance and emergency repair for the Okaloosa County Fiber Optic
Network. Until a new contract(s) can be entered into, and to insure there is maintenance and
repair for the Okaloosa County Fiber Optic Network, the Board is also requested to approve and
have the Chairman execute Task Order #20.
Both the Third Amendment to Contract C10-1838-IS and Task Order #20 have been through the
Purchasing review process. Funding is available in the Telecommunications and Fiber Optic
Capital Outlay budgets.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends the Board extend the term of World Fiber
Technologies, Inc. Contract C10-1838-IS for the completion of Task Orders #17, #18, #19 and
#20 and authorize the Chairman to execute the Third Amendment as well as Task Order #20.
