STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request Board approval to award the quote to Cowin Equipment
Company, Inc. for the purchase of a new Loader-Backhoe Combination for $78,813. (ITQ RD
83-15)
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: On July 7, 2015, the Board approved quotes in lieu of bids
for Public Works-Roads Division to purchase a new Loader-Backhoe Combination. The request
for quotes was advertised on the Florida Purchasing Group (BidNet) and the Purchasing website
and four (4) vendors submitted quotes. Cowin Equipment Company, Inc. quote was determined
to be responsive meeting all specifications and the lowest price at $78,813. Staff requests Board
approval to award the quote to Cowin Equipment Company, Inc. for the purchase of a new
Loader-Backhoe Combination for $78,813. This purchase has been approved by Fleet and Public
Works-Road Division staff. A requisition will be processed when/if the Board approves the
award of the quote. Funding is available for this purchase.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny to award the quote to Cowin Equipment Company, Inc. for the
purchase of a new Loader-Backhoe Combination for $78,813.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval to award the quote to Cowin Equipment
Company, Inc. for the purchase of a new Loader-Backhoe Combination for $78,813.
