BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: July 7, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Mosquito Control - FY16 FDACS Agreement DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Each year the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) offers a grant to provide financial assistance to Florida Mosquito Control (MC) Districts. Acceptance of the funding is predicated by a Contractual Agreement between FDACS and the governing body of MC District. BACKGROUND: The Okaloosa County Mosquito Control District has partnered with FDACS through the execution of an annual grant agreement for many years. Funding levels are dependent on legislative action. For the past several years, FDACS grants typically range between 5% and 7% of the total MC budget. The amount offered in the FY16 grant agreement is $31,540 or 5.3% of the projected FY16 MC budget. These funds will be earmarked for the purchase of chemical pesticide. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends the Board authorize the Chairman to execute the FY16 FDACS grant agreement (FDACS Contract #022257) and authorize the Chairman to sign all future FY16 FDACS grant documents.
