BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 19, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Elliot Kampert SUBJECT: Request to release RFP for Transit Security DEPARTMENT: Growth Management BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for transit facility security that meets Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recommendations and standards. BACKGROUND: The main transit facility located at 600 Transit Way must be upgraded to comply with the FTA's requirements for secure transit facilities. All FTA 5307 Grant Recipients must expend at least 1% of grant funds for transportation security projects or certify that it is not necessary to do so. A review of the facility at 600 Transit Way conducted in conjunction with the Facility Maintenance Department indicates that there are improvements that need to be made, and so the County cannot certify otherwise. Growth Management is seeking the release of an RFP that implements several of the FTA's strategies recommended for transit administrative buildings and are listed in the attached Scope of Work. The facility project is an FTA Capital project and is 100% funded by capital funding. No local funds are required. OPTIONS: Approve or not-approve the release of a RFP for transit facility security.
