BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 15, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board SUBJECT: Employee Awards-Public Works Re-Accreditation The Okaloosa County Department of Public Works was recently awarded a prestigious American Public Works Association (APWA) Re-Accreditation. The APWA Accreditation program recognizes public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the management practices established nationally in the public works industry, as contained in the APWA Public Works Management Practices Manual. The Okaloosa County agency received its original APWA Accreditation in June, 2011 and was awarded Re-Accreditation on August 7, 2015. For the Okaloosa County Re-Accreditation review, a team of public works professionals from Union Township, OH, Austin, TX and Kansas City, MO, completed a thorough evaluation of operations. The Okaloosa County Department of Public Works became the 69th agency in North America to receive Accreditation in 2011, which also includes fellow Florida agencies from Hillsborough County, Largo, Gainesville, Port St. Lucie, Palm Bay, Miami Beach, North Port and Wellington.
