BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: December 15, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Request approval of the 12th amendment to the Lutheran Services Contract DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of the twelfth amendment to the Lutheran Services contract (Teen Court Contract) to extend the expiration date of the contract. BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: Lutheran Services has a contract to provide teen court services for the County, however, this contract will expire on December 31, 2015. Under the contract Lutheran Services provided assistance to youthful offenders who were diverted from the juvenile court system. On November 3, 2015 the Board approved a Teen Court Funding Agreement which would create a Teen Court Coordinator position within County staff to provide these juvenile assistance services. County staff has the hiring process underway and a candidate is being sought for the position. Staff wants to ensure that these critical services are not interrupted in the event that a suitable candidate has not been selected before the expiration of the contract. Staff has recommended that the contract be extended to January 31, 2016 or until such a time that the County is fully equipped to render the services. Staff is requesting Board approval of the contract amendment to extend the expiration date. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the twelfth amendment to the Lutheran Services contract (C00- 0417-BCC) to extend the expiration date to January 31, 2016 or until the County is equipped to provide teen court services. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the twelfth amendment to the Lutheran Services contract (C00-0417-BCC) to extend the expiration date to January 31, 2016 or until the County is equipped to provide teen court services.
